Pope Benedict was baptised at birth and will most likely be baptised again one year after his death, not by his Roman Catholic Church but by a Mormon he never met. The Mormons, a U.S.-based denomination officially named the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS), encourage members to baptise the dead by proxy in the belief they are helpi

This is for real. Don't forget that Buddha is also listed in their registry along with all the Jews who died in the Holocaust.

It's only a joke in the context of your belief system. Clearly it is not a joke in the context of the Mormon belief system. I suspect however that Buddhists might be somewhat confused by the battle over eternal souls being fought between your world view and the Mormom world view. Confused perhaps, but secure in the knowledge that you are both wrong.

No, it is your belief system and you believe it to be true. However you are in the minority with the majority of the world's population believing something else to be the truth and the way.

All of the other religions have as much claim to truth and right as you do, at least to their adherents, some of whom are as fanatical as you. But only the truly blind or the truly mad would claim to know absolutely, for how can you know the unknowable.

Very odd. I guess if the Mormons want to do these proxy baptisms, there's really not any harm, because it doesn't actually affect people who don't believe in the Mormon way. These are not true baptisms, but the Mormons believe they're helping people with this practice, and all anyone can really do is disagree with them.
