My last post concerned the impossibly high (not to mention impractical) expectations that Christianity holds out in order to create in people such overwhelming and constant feelings of guilt that they have to continually seek divine forgiveness. So the same organization creates the need that it alone can meet.

He also healed a man on gods holy day and back talked to his parents, both against the ten commandments, but if you believe he was god or not he was still overall a good man (in my opinion).

In regard to 'working on the Sabbath', one has to understand the historical context.

Moses's law was ambiguous. The Pharisees were the group who was trying to codify the particulars to remove the ambiguity. They later wrote down clarifications in a book, I believe in the second century.

        An example of the problem:

Suppose you are a garment maker by trade.

What does it mean to work on the Sabbath?

Would opening your shop and selling your wares be work? Probably

However, what if you were just patching your own tunic because there is a hole in it? Is that work?

Matthew 23:33 "You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell? "

That is the verse used. If you read the entire passage Jesus was obviously trying to convict them. He knew their hearts. He was showing them that their hearts were corrupt and that they needed salvation.

"28 In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness."

The reference to the snakes was in reply to the lives of deceit they were living.

Was Jesus in a position to convict them, under the law he said he was there to uphold? Jesus of the tribe of Judah, under Jewish law was not a priest, and therefore unfit to convict any Pharisees of anything.

The writer is typically blind for those against God. They strain at gnats, semantics, interpretations of attitudes and miss the big event. Christ died for those who put Him to death which was the ultimate" do good unto your enemies", He even allowed Himself to be killed by them, showing His submission to the law of the day. So someone points out an evil trait in someone - Ahhh, thats' not nice....boo hoo. Jesus far exceeded His commands.

I do find the nit-picking a little tiresome, as the meaning can be argued.

There are much more interesting issues, like why is Jesus crucified on different days contingent on which Gospel is under examination? How does one reconcile that?

Don't forget that Jesus condemned a fig tree to death because it did not have figs for Him when He wanted them.

You have got to be kidding me. You actually think that if He had not lived a sinless life we would even be alive? He had to live a perfect life in order to fulfill all righteousness. He stood down the Devil, three times, rebuked the moneychangers in the temple, and turned the other cheek when struck. I see no fallacy there, only love and compassion.

When he told the woman caught in adultery,

"I also do not condemn thee. Go thy way and sin no more."

He was the only one who could say that, since he had just told the Pharisees that the one without sin was to cast the first stone.

          I can do that.

I dont condemn thee for internet porn Rockman. Go thy way and find a woman, and short circuit the keyboard no more.

The example was to forgive people and not to be so judgemental. You nor the phariesees could see that. Pharisees said, omg he thinks he is god. You are like, omg he is god. Jesus was like, so what, what if I am god, you still miss my point.

That "cast the first stone" story was not part of the original Gospel attributed to John. It's a much later addtion.

Defining God into existence by tricks of language is a lot of fun if you already believe, but if people don't, it's just kind of funny.

It would seem that it is very Christ-like to exhort that people "do as I say, not as I do".

Not at all, that is a very mistaken understanding of God as Christ.

The article is bogus straining to find grounds to challenge the statements of the Apostles about Jesus. The proof that Jesus is sinless is the Resurrection. That is what Peter said on the Day of Pentecost. The sending of the Promise of the Father, the Holy Spirit manifest that day upon the 120 disciples in the upper room was the proof. Later he asserted this same claim as evidenced by the healing of the lame man at the Gate Beautiful by the Authority of the Name of Jesus. Acts 3

The picture in the Old Testament is the Lamb without spot and blemish offered as sacrifice on the Day of Atonement or Passover. Jesus is that Lamb offered and if received was therefore declared sinless and righteous by the Father. Pentecost was demonstation of the Resurrection and seating of Jesus at the Throne of God. Resurrection is the proof of His sinless life. Old Testament prophesied it. The Apostles did not invent it. The Prophets from Abraham to John the Baptist foretold and declared it.

                  Maybe this will help...

Accounts in Matthew, Mark, and Luke would seem to contradict the above scriptures and indicate that the day Jesus told his disciples to prepare for the Passover was the day of Preparation, and then, that evening they ate the Passover. However, notice that no lamb was mentioned as being slaughtered, and no meat was mentioned as being eaten at the meal, for if it had, the meat of the lamb would seem a more fitting symbol of Jesus' body. However, Jesus himself was to become the lamb that would be slaughtered on the next afternoon.

Also, remember that the day of Preparation was the holy day, and thus a Sabbath, so Jews would typically prepare for this first meal of yeast-free bread, bitter herbs, and wine on the previous afternoon.

But why did Jesus say at Luke 22:15, 'I really wanted to eat this Passover with you before I suffer,' if the Passover was the following day? Because, this was the first Passover meal of seven that would be eaten that weekâ;¦ but it wasn't the one that involved eating a lamb. For, due to a lack of refrigeration, meat wasn't common at all meals in that time. However, bread with some sort of 'sop' (olive oil?) was apparently common.
