'God' Apparently Responds to Lawsuit »
Posted by: david_nwpa 11 months, 3 weeks agoA legislator who filed a lawsuit against God has gotten something he might not have expected: a response. Interesting arguments in this rebuttal from "God." Though I suspect that if God had indemnity insurance, now would be the time to brush off his policy. Since plenty of "terrifying tornadoes" have stricken Nebraska, the court should rule that it most certainly does have jurisdiction to hear this case. Once it establishes the right to hear the case, it should then dispose of the case through a dismissal.

So many things come to mind...
I'd agree that God isn't subject to our laws. After all, how would they be enforced?
I also think Ernie Chambers is being sill, and wasting the court's (and his state's) money by filing this suit, even if he means to make a point about frivolous lawsuits.
And I think some enterprising believer could use this as a way to try to prove God's existence, a la "Miracle on 34th Street." Not with sacks of mail, but by calling clergy in to testify on God's behalf, and by posing the same question--if the government supports religious institutions (the I.R.S. certainly does), then that means the U.S. officially believes in God's existence.

Sorry - clergy can't testify on God's behalf. That would be hearsay and wouldn't be admissible except as character witnesses. Of course, the defendant would have to actually SHOW UP or no number of character witness will be able to overcome the directed guilty verdict that is bound to be rendered in absentia. {;>D)=

Where is the Rev. Al Sharpton when you really need a mediator. This can be settled out of court.

I am interested in what the second of the two filings said, the first one wasn't good news for Protestants. God using St. Michael as a witness sounds like the Catholic flavor of xianity.
