Good article! God does manifest Himself in ways that impact our senses as well as contact our spirits. We were taking communion today and I thought of how God reaching to all parts of our being. We are spirit, soul and body. That is who we are. We are not merely spirit, or soul or body with each being separate from the other. God ministers to every part. The Body feels things so He manifests to our senses. Our emotions may be stirred as our He speaks to our will asking for our mind to change. He dwells in our spirit and speaks to us and empowers us from there. He meets us and manifests on every level according to our need.

If god manifests itself in ways detectable to our senses, it should be trivial to devise a scientific experiment to detect this presence.
And yet, somehow, this has not been done.

  The nature of sin closes sinful man to God Who is a Spirit. The death Adam suffered was losing contact with God. If God wishes to manifest He does. OT account of Elijah on the mount calling down fire from heaven was a demonstration that Jehovah is God. The fire fell and the very stones were consumed. His presence was detectable. God responds to faith.
  As for devising an experiment many have only to be rejected by skeptics. But the true "test" is not material although there may be physical manifestations. It is to the spirit of man that God is revealed. Those who have their spirits Born Again by The Resurrection Life of Jesus administrated by the Holy Spirit know Him. What Proof would you accept?

  I ask you: if all the bones of a person's foot and ankle were broken and maimed from a fall and never properly set so the person walked on the top of that foot and those bones were suddenly restored to normal through faith in the Name of Jesus would that be "proof" enough for you?
  I have seen it. I have pictures of the person. If a goiter in the throat of an old woman the size of a small orange disappeared after Prayer in the Name of Jesus Christ would you believe? I prayed and saw the goiter disappear.
  I can relate a hundred such testimonies. Would you then believe?

    If there was a way to replicate or repeat those results consistently in a proper double-blind study, I would believe, yes.
    However, I do not believe faith healings by hucksters. I've seen too many of them refuted and exposed for that to convince me.

      Anecdote??? Eyewitness testimony is not an anecdote. It is admissable in court and a person can be found guilty or aquitted based upon it. Even one such testimony should be enough to convince an honest man.
      Why should a "double-blind" study be used? As stated above in the legal system no such "study" would be required. As for husksters I acknowledge that some people have tried to make money with fraud. But to dismiss out of hand the probably that some testimonies are true reveals a cynic and not an honest seeker of truth. But your reaction was expected. And your very cynicism is the reason you may never see such a manifest you will accept.
      Again what would be necessary for you to believe?

        Would it matter if I did not? I saw the scars and know his wife and friends and those who were there when it happened. When will eyewitness testimony be enough? And to whom will it never be?

        In the face of conflicting evidence, eyewitness evidence is the least credible in a court of law. Also, courts typically have less stringent requirements than science.
        I have an eyewitness testimony for you. My wife was a xian for many years, based on her feeling the holy spirit within her. She was later diagnosed bipolar with schizoid tendencies (that would be hallucinations). She later went to a Denver Broncos game at Mile High Stadium. When she felt the same sensations from cheering a Denver touchdown as she felt when communing with the xian god, she realized there was no god. It was all chemical.

      I know a man whose arm was surgically shortened due to removal of bone because of cancer. His left arm was three inches shorter than the right. All his suits were altered acccordingly. At a church meeting he received prayer in the Name of Jesus and that arm grew out three inches. The growth was permanent. He had to purchase new suits. He was thirty-five years old at the time of the miracle. I can obtain documents from doctors proving the condition and the end result. Would a "double-blind study" be required???
      There are records in Church history which recount many similar miracle thorough history. Even Saint Augustine who discounted such miracles early in his ministry began to see and record miracles of healing during the last years of his ministry and life.
      Hundreds of thousands of healings have been recorded throughout the twentieth century at least among those who believe God still heals in the Name of Jesus.

        You may feel free to redact the name and identifying information. Get the documents, use black marker on the identity, scan them, and post them online. Privacy issue solved. Doctors have no expectation of privacy.
        As for meeting him, I don't care to meet him. I'd much rather meet the doctors.

    Witch doctors can relate similar such testimony so can crystal healers also similarly this testimony fails to live up to it's claims when put to a scientific test.

      Witch doctors? Her husband purchased a pair of shoes for her in celebration which she wore the next evening when she publicly gave her testimony! She had been walking with bare feet for seven years until that day! What scientific test would be needed? The community saw it and testify to it and most of them are not Christians. A "scientific test" would be what? ?? A doctor took a looksee and said, "I see scars from damage. I see callouses on top of her foot and none on the bottom which is smooth and soft as if it has borne no weight for years. Now the foot is straight and normal with the sole as it should be. It appears she previously walked on the top and side of her foot. I can detect no damage of the bones at this time." Any person with half a brain and one eye could come to that conclusion! :-)

        While I appriciate the added details, they really just raise more questions than they answer for me.
        What sort of community did this woman live in, that allowed her to suffer for 7 years from an improperly set broken ankle? The Manson Family? The Koresh Compound? Mississippi? Was she an adult when the brake happened or a minor? If she was a minor the parents could be charged with neglect.
        Why did shoes need to be purchased? She didn't wear a shoe on her normal foot? Did she buy a pair and automatically throw one away, leaving her with no complete pairs? What did she do in the winter?
        A doctor took a looksee? Where was this doctor for 7 years while the woman was a cripple?
        Was this the first time the woman had prayed to be healed or did her prayers go unanswered for 7 years?

        I am busy so have little time. The dates are Summer of 1982 on the island of Palawan in the Philippines. The nation does not provide quality health services especially on that island. The woman was injured in a fall while fleeing Vietnam. Medical response was hindered due to the times and she was a refugee. Later they are poor and the resetting of the bones in her ankle would have required an extensive costly operation.
        I have pictures of her and her husband after the healing. I am not sure about the shoes. I supposed she merely did without because of money and the wear and tear on one shoe. She walked on the side and top of the foot. I do not know whether or not anyone had prayed for her before. I only know she was lame one night and the next day was walking normally and had new shoes. She was well known in the town and many attest to the miracle even years later.
