An Atheist advocacy group criticized the new encyclical made public this weekend by Pope Benedict XVI. "Benedict needs to go back to school and study history," said Ellen Johnson, President of American Atheists.

FTA - In a 75-page document, the pontiff [Pope Benedict XVI] urged the world to adopt Christianity, and said that Atheism "led to the greatest forms of cruelty and violations of justice"
He's GOT to be kidding! Greatest forms of cruelty and violations of justice? Well, let's see, burning at the stake, consumption of boiling water, Judas chair, the rack, heretic's fork. Atheist origin? I do believe all of these and more were used by none other than the Catholic Church, at one time.
