Posted by: idyll 8 months, 4 weeks agoEarlier this year, a secularist group offered $1,000 to the highest-ranking politician in the land who would publicly proclaim no belief in God. This turned out to be Peter Stark, a Democratic congressman from the San Francisco area. He is the only congressman, of 535, who professes no belief in the Almighty.

Too many atheists base their lack of belief not on a positive identification with reason and science, but on some sort of harm done to themselves or others by people of faith.
Don't get me wrong, religion has done and is doing horrible things, but I agree with Michael Shermer when he says that atheist activism has to be based on positive affirmations and not attacks on the opposing side.

I find it rather sad that people put more faith in religon than in humanity. faith/religon is a way people think. some people need religon other dont. the fact that its considered ok to force religon on anyone and judging a person by their belief is considered ok is somewhat uneasy...
