Can any Muslim give an answer about how Mecca and the Kabah fit into Islamic eschatology?

I am not a scholar by any means but am unaware of any role that Makkah and the Kabah play in the predictions around the day of judgement.

Okay, everything you ever wanted to know about Hajj has been written down by my friend, Jane Straitwell. Ms. Straitwell is a journalist ABD from Berkely.

Read her book, it's fabulous and lots of fun (for those of us that haven't taken this religious tour yet)

Hajj! where every color, every creed, every tribe, every nation rich or poor, young or old, and people with different languages meet in brotherhood. And under one and only one creator of the universe, the Lord of Abraham, Moses, Jesus, Muhammad and all the other prophets. It represents one God one religion and one people, and all of them are equal in the sight of God everybody is required to wear two piece of white cloths while performing Hajj.

For someone to get to the heart of Mecca (the heart of Islam?) without being a Muslim, they'd have to perform their own form of al-taqiyya. They have to believe, like Jihadists, that "war is deception".
