Christian Coalition Supports Guns-in-Churches Bill

Religion – The Georgia Christian Coalition has taken 2 intriguing positions on legislation making its way through the state Capitol. It supports a gun bill that allows you to carry concealed in churches. At the same time, it has declared neutrality on a measure to permit the Sunday sales of beer and such at a new stadium in Gwinnett County.

Here's a hilarious satirical news report about the topic of guns in churches done way back in the 90s:

Sunday turns to gun-day in the video..

Now regarding the storry..

It seems to make perfect sense.

The only issue being to schedule Church Services so that they don't clash with events at the stadium.

This should be ensured by referencing the equal rights act.

Equal rights to go to Church, pack heat or both.

Anything else is highy discriminatory!!

And by the time that the 7th Day Adventists and the Muslims get their two cents in all this darn Nazi discrimination will be well and truly buried, along with the weekly massacre victims!

LOL, what better message to send to the preacher that his sermons arent hitting home then by packing heat into the service.

What about the preacher who makes sure his congregation stays awake with the casual shot into the air?

HELL YES GUNS IN CHURCHES!

CHRIST WAS SURE PACKING HEAT!

HE SURE EMBRACED A CULTURE OF VIOLENCE!

PRAISE GUNS! (I mean Jesus)

"LOL, what better message to send to the preacher that his sermons arent hitting home then by packing heat into the service."

You must have missed the news reports about the Muslim extremists who barged in on Jewish students engaged in religious studies and started shooting them dead - until killed by an armed Israeli soldier.

You also missed the part where the legislation enabled churches/synagogues to opt out and still ban guns on their premises. Basically, the proposed legislation upholds second amendment rights, if religious leaders allow it. But, liberals hate the second amendment.

Liberals are as strongly for keeping guns out of the hands of violent, poorly educated and/or mentally unstable Americans (which pretty much describes most neocons) as wingers are for flushing their privacy rights down the crapper in exchange for a false sense of security.

When cons elect people who spend trillions of dollars to send other people's loved ones to DIE in other countries in the name of protecting us from terrorism (while allowing foreign countries to ply us with defective repair parts for our airplanes and deadly toys for our children), they demonstrate their catastrophically poor logic and reasoning. Guns by themselves aren't dangerous. Guns in the hands of people with extremely low IQs is another matter entirely. Cons must not be allowed near firearms. Period.

ROFLMAO, yeah seems he was killed by an ARMED ISRAELI SOLDIER, not and armed citizen. These little details seem to slide right by you time and time again. Put weapons in the hand of yahoos like yourself and the carnage goes up. Liberals hate the Second Amendment? ROFLMAO, most cons dont even know what it is or what its meaning was meant for, altho in general that is the ONLY amendment the COn smust like since almost all of the others seem to have been trashed by them.

avatar
Reply

Not entirely correct Dunny. He was shot by the armed soldier, as well as a student who retrieved a rifle.

"most cons dont even know what it is or what its meaning was meant for," Is that right? As opposed to who, the libtards who seem to think the 2nd Amendment is about hunting?

avatar
Reply

Yes, in fact, even some high school girls in Israel carry rifles everywhere. If I can find it, there is a picture of several of them at a Starbucks-like coffee shop somewhere on the web.

avatar

Wow is this what it means when they say "Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition?"

They are Christian in name only. Jesus would never have or allow guns!!

I don't think it's right or necessary to blaspheme Jesus in any way, shape, or form Jaydee40.

Hello Bronx, what about the Da Vinci Code? Royal blood and all that? Now as for blaspheme that would only be the case IF I believed and let me assure you I don't. I find Christianity to be nothing more than a cult used by some to make people submit to their will. I assure you all here that it is out of respect for you who believe that I watch what I say and not out of any desire not to offend either the church or some made up god.

While I agree that it ain't nice to go puttin' no badmouth on the padre, BB, I believe Jaydee40 may have been referring to Augustine's "very old religion"... fertility cults and all that Ra Ra stuff...

Anyway, it's March 6th. "â;¦an incredible carnival-like day of gamelan parades with these huge ogres and monsters representative of the malignant forces that have accumulated over the previous year. Once the island is cleansed of the demons through a ritual burning, the island of Bali goes under a blanket of silence for one dayâ;¦Nyepi. 3 million people in silence, with the airport shut down, no electricity nor the internet nor cell phones being used, Nyepi is a profound day, when fully embraced and surrendered to."

What no guns?!! How can one cleanse, make silent and surrender without ritual burning of gunpowder? And who is this Nyepi? Can he make fire appear from the heaven's holster? What does he have on our god Glock?

The Da Vinci Code is bogus, and unproven, & I find attitudes of naysayers of the Lord Savior apalling and just as bogus. You can be agnostic and atheistic in you're beliefs w/o having to trample on my toes or anybody else's to the point of arrogance in you're mockery. I certainly don't go out my way to make fun at the expense of the 'scientific' crowd who don't take the biblical theories seriously. I figure that's on them. All I ask is to respect me, and others likewise who think differently.

Religion in it self is mockery to mankind Bronx, think about the fact that a religious group is trying to make it legal to carry hidden hand guns into church. Now these people claim to be follower of Christ, they claim to be a group who's prime connection is a man who never would have wanted weapons anywhere near a temple at all. Christians have become a tribe of hypocrites who we can no longer sit by and not call to task on their actions. The time has come to call them on what they believe, If Jesus was indeed real he would of had real feelings and real wants, now if he were as charismatic as they claim in being a natural leader he would of had many opportunities to of had relations. Why does the bible never mention any? All I can come up with is it simply doesn't suit Romes picture so it's left out.

Well I've been to church and so far my pastor hasn't told me to start packin' and be ready for bear so I don't see the nesscessitation to generalze all church groups and thanx for the negs it's a badge of honor to front for the Lord.

CAT7? when it's you're time, you'll get you're just award.

Lol Bronx I would never try to generalize you, they broke the mold and labels don't fit friend. I honestly believe in my heart religion has only pain to offer the world, I don't believe all or even most religious people are bad, I just think religion has become irrelevant in todays world. IF you want to pray thats your own business but why must society pay the price for it? Religion has no place in politics, law, or mankind's destiny. Just my opinion.

avatar
Reply

Ok Jaydee, I can deal with that.

I respect you're opinion. Although I don't necessarily agree with you. But thanx!

& CAT7? You stalking me, and flyby negs just shows me that you're a wussie. But that's common knowledge here in Propeller.

Get over it little man.

"think about the fact that a religious group is trying to make it legal to carry hidden hand guns into church."

Jaydee, I assure you that this is not the case. If you read the bill in question, no where does it say that we are trying to allow guns in church. It's just that part of the bill would allow guns to be carried at "public gatherings" which churches are a part of. Also, if the church does not feel that members should be armed, all they need to do is post that guns are not allowed. The same goes for retaurants and other privately owned buildings.

This is taken from the article posted with this thread.

"The Christian Coalition supports H.B. 89, the gun bill that would expand the places where you can carry concealed. Churches, for instance."

The Christian Coalition sounds like a Christian group and they are supporting this bill. As for a public gathering that could also include any after hour high school sporting event, does that sound like a place to have guns?

avatar
Reply

The Chrsitian Coalition supports a bill that would allow people with conceal and carry permits to carry in more places. Why? Because of cases like the woman who was recently murdered in a state park, because of cases like the rival to the high school I went to shooting up our school because we beat them at their homecoming game, because of all the shootings that take place accroos the nation where armed citizens could have saved lives.

The re-re who wrote this article surely has a screw loose. That's why he only wants to point out the fact that churches are included and ignore the other 99% of the bill.

actually, i seem to recall here in S FL.. we've had a couple of robberies of churches..

gunmen came in and robbed the people during a service.. I'm working and don't have time to find a link..

not too long ago...

Yes that has happened however had the congregation been packing I could see the headlines

"Church Service Held Up, Gunmen killed by congregation. 17 wounded, 5 killed by gunfight that erupted."

Ah yes but it is better to have loved and lost than never to of fired a gun at all.....

Did you read the article? The purpose for allowing guns in churches is for security. Those "packing heat" would be security people.

avatar

A gun in a human hand is and always will be a security risk to human beings, No way around it.

avatar

"Those "packing heat" would be security people"

no, thats NOT what the article said. it said they would count on the congregation to provide security.

The article is trash. Read the bill. Educate yourself.

Tessy, the article was poorly written which comes as no surprise since it is from the Atlanta Journal Communism. Or the Al Jazeera Constitution, you take your pick.

What this bill is about is letting those of us with CC permits to

1:Open Carry

2:Carry at "Public gatherings"

3:Carry at state parks.

4:Carry in restaurants that also sell alchohol.

As of right now these places are off limits. And they should not be. Here in metro Atlanta we have had many problems with women being attacked in parks. You cannot patrol every single square foot of the parks. And allowing us to carry would deter criminals from attacking in these places. Citizens must be allowed to defend themselves.

Just because a church falls into the "public gathering" section, does not mean that there are people down here saying that we need to carry in church.

Don't let this article fool you.

avatar
Reply

Those are not what I would call ideal places for a person to carry a gun, public gatherings has bad news written all over it and do you really want gun around where you take you family for a get away for the day? We all know guns and alcohol don't mix so that's a big no no. With the rest of the world trying to step into a more civilized time why would you support stepping back to the old west?

avatar

"do you really want gun around where you take you family for a get away for the day?"

Honestly, Yes. Mine.

"With the rest of the world trying to step into a more civilized time why would you support stepping back to the old west?"

Actually Jaydee, the 1906 law that banned guns from being carried at public gatherings in Ga was put in place to keep "negroes" (taken from a 1906 AJC article titled "Disarm the Negroes") from being able to protect themselves.

So, in my opinion, we are taking a stp forward, and correcting a horrible mistake that should have never been made.
