It's easy to understand. The people now in Israel HATE documented history. They prefer the old testament, full of fairy tales and their own imagined glory, over the collected and comparable histories of four men about a man the hebrews chose to kill, and even today the inhabitants of israel gloat over.

That's quite a dichotomy of sorts when Israel herself banked so much into literacy throughout human history. There is no excuse for this latest atrocious act of biblical intolerance. Why bother burning it at all? Just shun, and ignore it all together. Engaging in this act will not erase the New Testament altogether now or anywhere in the near future.

> The people now in Israel HATE documented history. They prefer the old testament, full of fairy tales and their own imagined glory...
The people now in the US believe that the Blacks should be either thrown out of the country or killed. They prefer to have a racially pure White Christian state...
...what? You're saying that only a handful of racists in the US have such beliefs and that 99.9% of Americans do not? It's the same in Israel, buddy...

"The deputy mayor told CNN he respects the New Testament and would not do what has been done to the Jews in the past -- a reference to Nazi burning of Jewish and other books in the 1930s, and other occasions when Jewish texts, including sacred ones, were burned."
He might have done better to keep quiet with that implied comparison.
A denial which only serves to inflame passions more than they have been already.
Now what will be VERY interesting is what comments we will hear from US Politicians - especially the neo-cons who are hand-in-glove with Israel, of whom many of the prominent members have joint Israeli/US citizenship - and also the current candidates for the Presidency who will undoubtedly be asked for their opinions on this.
Great post Bk!

Book burning, desecration of churches and mosques, and other acts of intolerance are a routine part of life in the Zionist state. The only thing unusual about this incident is that it was reported in the American press.
