That is absolute stupidity. Yes, I think somehow faith might give a person a better psychological condition, but healing? Well, of course there are stories in the Bible saying Jesus healed a lot of people. Well, I believe God will help the people if the people try to at least do something about their problems.
How dumb can people be? Do we need to introduce forced logic classes?

Faith healing is a crock. If people want to be physically healed, let them seek a physician. This boy could have been treated and lived. Instead his negligent parents kept him away from treatment. Charge them with abuse, I say. It is only my opinion and that does not matter in court, but still...this boy need not have died.
Now if one is seeking spiritual healing and believes in that stuff, then seek out a minister, rabbi, or priest.

"A 16-year-old boy whose family relies on faith..."
Don't we live in a wonderful country with all its natural beauty and rich resources and to have the constitution guarantee FREEDOM OF RELIGION!
This poor lad should have been guaranteed freedom FROM Religion....

No, you can't rule them out. Apparently you have to beat them out:

Even if I believed in god, which I don't, I would hope that I would be prudent enough to seek medical attention. I know that god is supposed to be omnipotent and all, but even then with all the balls he must have up in the air, he might just not give your prayer the full attention it deserves. After all it must be quite a feat just figure out which natural disaster to wreak upon which proponent of which faith. Buy the way, you can't all be right. All but one of your belief systems is just so much hooey. How can you be sure your's is right?

If you personally rely on your faith for your own self, so be it. Nobody should have the right to make that decision for anyone else, including their own children, when it comes to needing medical attention, food, shelter etc....
Hope they are charged with negligence.
