I imagine some of that is due to the fact that they cannot produce Priuses fast enough to meet demand. I understand there is now a one-year waiting period for a new Prius, due to a shortage of batteries.

I expect things will ease off when they complete their new manufacturing plant for hybrid batteries here in the U.S. They are also converting some of their big truck/SUV plants here to making small trucks/hybrid trucks.
