With Congress on recess, it's too soon to know what's ahead, but one thing's for sure. Neocons still run things. **** Cheney leads them, and he claims Iran intends to destroy Israel, is developing nuclear weapons, and is a "darkening cloud....right at the top of the list" of world trouble spots and needs to be addressed (along with Syria) as the next phase of "the road map to war." With five months to go and heavy firepower to call on, he and George Bush have plenty of time left (as this writer said earlier) to incinerate Iran and end the republic if that's what they have in mind. Better hope they don't or that cooler heads win out for a different way.

"seeking regional hegemony to undermine "vital American national security interests."

Well, we obviously can't let them get away with that!

And depending on who says these thing, just about anything in the world would be part of "vital American national security interests."

Sure leaves it wide open for these people, doesn't it?

Oh, for God's sake, you people have been predicting war with Iran for 5 years. Don't you ever get tired of being wrong? I will tell you who will take on Iran, the Isrealis, and they won't ask for our permission. The new Isreali P M will be much trougher then this one.

Most Americans and the rest of the world are in a state of denial over Iran....

So let's just all sit back, sip some Starbucks and let the guy who runs around chanting "Death to America" develop the means to kill a million of us at a time. Now that makes sense. I mean, gee, how dare we actually believe what he never tires of saying!

Imagine how the world would have turned out if Hitler had been ignored and beat us in developing the bomb. You would think we would have learned something about ignoring fascists in the midst of an arms build-up...

"Preventive war was an invention of Hitler. Frankly, I would not even listen to anyone seriously that came and talked about such a thing."

Honest question. Didn't President Lincoln basically go to war to prevent the dissolution of the Union?

              zimm:

Sounds like you want to kill someone over there. Hey we have a nifty little bloody thing going on in Iraq. Feel free to enlist and see what it is like over there.

Of course it has been my experience that those who want to start a war have never really been in a war.

Let me tell you something, from experience.
Wars don't solve problems. They create more in the long run. We keep building more potent bombs, better ways to deliver mass death, casual phrases like collateral damage to express the horrific death to innocent bystanders.

Never dealing with and solving the under lying cause of the wars. Mans greed and hatred. We want more than the next guy because we feel we deserve it because we are better than them for whatever reason we choose to believe.

Of course they feel the same way. So lets not act like rational human beings and discuss ways for all to have their fare share and enjoy the fruits of our knowledge and growth.

Oh noooo!! Lets see who has the best weapons or the people most willing to kill to get what they want.

We have enough weapons to blow this world to pieces if needed. Do you really think Iran will go to war knowing they will be made to glow in the dark if thet try?

Oh I know a war is coming. Of that I'm sure, the Bible says so. I also know that Iran, Russia, China,Libya, and other nations will be involved. But that doesn't mean I'm in a hurry to see it. Or be a part of it. This next war is going to worse than any other war in the history of man.

Are you in a big hurry to see a lot of people die?

Lerberman, the PIG from CT and hypocrite McCain's "ear piece" has already said yesterday that IRAN HAS MADE AN ACT OF WAR ON USA by its actions!.

Need more reasons to elect McCain?

to these tyrants merely existing can be considered an act or a threat of war. Well, as long as that's what their agenda dictates....

I think that the US would be hard pressed to not only materially support another war in the ME but the political and economic implications would truly be disasterous.
I think that Iran knows this and is playing it for all it is worth.
How the current administration and the next 'play this one' will really be central to our future political stance in the region.

With both China and Russia having workers in Iran, any military action may stir the proverbial hornets nest!

Russia is completing a $billion first nuclear power plant and China has $billion dollar business and oil interest with Iran.

Whoever attacks Iran will be attacking 3 countries.

No one will attack Iran unless there will be no other way to prevent Iranian attack on Israel and/or the US.

You should learn some history, Nikki. Back in 1967 the Soviet Union invested way more in Egypt and Syria than Russia and China combined have today in Iran. Nevertheless, when these Arab states attacked Israel the Soviet Union cut its diplomatic relations with Israel... and that was it.

You have to realize that neither Russia nor China will be willing to have their own countries destroyed and their own citizens killed in order to protect the Ayatollas. Both these countries have anything but love relations with violent Islam.

Iran has not invaded any country, US did. It not only invaded but destroyed its infrastructure, people and their lives. It is also occupying Iraq by military force.

So, let US find its own back and try to scrub a little!

If only they'd stop the false pretenses. They are saying they want to save the world, when the true direction is to stop the fanatical muslims. The problem of course is, that muslims all around the world are always at the center of the troubles, killings, bombings, political assassinations etc. Why doesn't Cheney just say it out loud, we're going to exterminate muslims, maybe that would be acceptable to the rational populace?

You have been slurping up the kind of propaganda that is always peddled before the "elite" begin their wars. It is important that you be made to regard the "enemy" as subhuman so that you will not object to the elite's war.

Apart from the resistance to occupation in Iraq and Afghanistan, muslims are far more peaceful and less warlike than the American population (much greater proportions of Americans say wars are justified than do muslim populations). That is the consequence of a full century of state war-propaganda in the US.
